Privacy Policy
For jwvest.com
This policy explains what this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers this website only. If you follow a link elsewhere, that site's own policy applies.
Information you give us
You only give us information if you choose to fill something in. This is exactly what each form on this site asks for:
Contact form:
- your name
- email address
- and your message
Booking and enquiry form:
- your name
- email address
- your company if you enter it
- what you are interested in
- and your message
Email updates signup:
- your email address, and nothing else
Video order planner:
- nothing. It is a planning tool: you pick options to see what a piece would involve, and the page sends nothing to us and keeps nothing
Our contact and booking forms carry a hidden field used to catch automated spam. It records nothing about you.
What you send is kept in our contact records so we can reply and follow up. Enquiries, booking requests and the email-updates list are kept as separate lists: filling in the contact or booking form does not sign you up for email updates, which only happens if you enter your address in the signup box yourself. Every email update we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also just ask us to remove you.
Information collected automatically
This site uses Google tags to count visits and see which pages people read. They set cookies in your browser and record your rough location, your device and browser type, the pages you view and how you arrived. We use this only as statistics. We do not use it to identify you and we do not use it for advertising. You can switch this off at any time, and the site works normally if you do. How to do that is below.
The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google to fetch them and Google sees your network address when it does.
Like any website, our servers record the ordinary details of each request so the site can run and so we can find and stop abuse. A security and delivery network sits in front of the site and handles the same details in order to serve pages quickly and to filter out attacks and automated traffic.
When a form is sent we record the network address it came from. It is kept with the submission, and it is used to tell real submissions from automated ones and to stop the form being flooded.
Submissions that our checks judge to be automated are discarded and do not reach anyone. The checks look at a hidden field left empty by real people, at how quickly the form was sent, and at the content itself. If a genuine message is ever caught this way, use the contact route below and tell us.
The blog
This site publishes a blog. The posts themselves are served by a content system running on this same site. Blog pages carry the same measurement and the same typefaces as the rest of the site, so what is described above applies there too.
The blog has a search box. What you type into it is sent to our own server, and it is sent as you type so the box can suggest matching posts, not only when you press Search. Those words appear in the ordinary request records described above, so please do not type anything personal into it.
Why we use it
- To answer you when you get in touch.
- To keep the website working, fast and secure.
- To understand which pages are useful so we can improve them.
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not use it to train AI models.
Who else sees it
- Google provides the analytics tags described above, and the typefaces the pages use.
- We also rely on a small number of service providers to run the site: a company that hosts this website, a security and delivery network that sits in front of it, a company that delivers our email and holds the contact records enquiries are answered from, and a company that holds our contact records. They only ever receive what they need to do that job and are not permitted to use it for anything else.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep what you send us for as long as it takes to deal with your enquiry and for as long afterwards as we need it as an ordinary business record, or as tax and accounting law requires. When it is no longer needed for either, it is deleted.
If you ask to be removed from our contact records, we act on that when you ask.
Request records kept by the server and by the security network are held only as long as they are useful for running the site and investigating abuse, and are then discarded. Analytics data is held under the retention setting configured in the analytics product and is then deleted automatically.
Your choices
- Ask what we hold. Get in touch and we will tell you.
- Ask us to correct or delete it. Get in touch and we will, unless the law requires us to keep it.
- Ask us to stop contacting you. Say so and we will take you off our contact records.
- Turn off analytics. Install Google's official opt-out browser add-on, or block cookies in your browser settings. The site works normally either way.
If you live in California, another US state with a privacy law, the EEA or the UK, you have specific rights over your personal information, which include getting a copy of it, having it corrected, having it deleted and, in some cases, having it moved. Ask us and we will act on your request. We will never charge you or treat you differently for exercising a right.
Children
This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The connection between your browser and this website is encrypted. What you send through a form goes into the contact system used to answer enquiries, the people who answer them are notified from there, and a copy is kept so that nothing is lost if delivery fails. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we collect to the minimum that lets us do our job, which is the most effective protection there is.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect changes, we will update this page.
How to reach us
For anything in this policy, including a request to see or delete what we hold, reach us through the contact form on this site.
