Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-04-17
This policy explains what personal information jwvest.com collects, how it's used, and how you can have it removed. Plain language, no legalese games.
Who's responsible
Jason Vest (the contact form) is the data controller for this site. Hosting and form-handling infrastructure is operated by NexVerto on Jason's behalf.
What we collect and why
Mailing list signup (subscribe widget)
Collected: email address (required), name (optional).
Purpose: to email you about upcoming shows, new videos, and occasional news from Jason. Nothing else.
Opt-in only: you are only added when you enter your email in the signup widget yourself. Submitting the contact or booking forms does not add you to the mailing list.
Unsubscribe: every email will include a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also request removal anytime by emailing the contact form.
Contact form
Collected: name, email, your message.
Purpose: so Jason can read your message and reply. That's it. This is a direct-message channel, not a marketing list.
Not shared: contact submissions are not sold, rented, or used for advertising.
Booking form
Collected: name, email, organization/company (optional), event type, and the details you provide.
Purpose: to evaluate and respond to booking inquiries. Kept as long as needed for the business relationship.
Anonymous analytics
The site records anonymous usage analytics (page views, approximate location from an IP, device type). IP addresses are salted and hashed before storage; no cookies are set for tracking; no third-party advertising pixels are used.
How it's stored
- Data is stored in private, access-controlled managed PostgreSQL databases hosted on DigitalOcean in the United States.
- Transport is encrypted (TLS).
- Only Jason and authorized NexVerto staff can read the data, and all access is logged.
How long we keep it
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe or request removal.
- Contact messages: until Jason has finished the conversation with you, or you ask for removal.
- Booking inquiries: for the duration of the engagement plus any commercial records required by US tax or contract law.
- Analytics: aggregated indefinitely; raw event records are retained no longer than 12 months.
Your rights
- Access — ask what we have on you; we'll send it.
- Correction — tell us what's wrong and we'll fix it.
- Deletion — ask us to remove your record. We will confirm by email and delete within 14 days unless we're required to retain the record (e.g., booking contract obligations).
- Unsubscribe — mailing list removal is immediate and one-click.
To exercise any of these, email the contact form with the subject Data request.
Cookies
No advertising or third-party cookies are used on jwvest.com. The site sets a small technical cookie only to protect forms from automated abuse. That cookie is first-party and expires when you close the tab.
Children
jwvest.com is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If the policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date at the top will change and, for mailing-list subscribers, a note will be included in the next email.
Request data removal
If you want your record removed from Jason's systems, use this form. You'll receive an email confirmation within 14 days.
